Shelbi Herndon is a native of Longview, Texas. She began her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance at East Texas Baptist University and graduated magna cum laude in May 2015. Starting August 2016, Shelbi continued her studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and began her Master of Music in Voice Performance. She graduated magna cum laude in May 2018 from SMU.
Since graduation, Shelbi has built up the choral and theater program at All Saints Church & School in north Dallas. She is the Director of Children’s Music, Handbell Choir, alto section leader, and cantor at All Saints Church. At All Saints School, she serves as the staff accompanist, trains the student cantors, is the Director of Theater, and Director of Choirs.
Shelbi has been teaching private voice and piano since 2012 and currently teaches privately in the DFW area. She is involved with several area churches, singing in concerts, services, funerals, and weddings.
She recently sang with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra at the Meyerson for their Carnegie Hall Children’s outreach program which consisted of teaching children through jazz and swing music. She sings with professional ensembles in the DFW area as well, i.e., the Dallas Chamber Choir, Dallas Credo Choir, Dallas Street Choir, Dallas Choral Festival, Dallas Bach Society, Verdigris Ensemble, Texas Voices, and everything in between. Shelbi grew up singing gospel and jazz music and was classically trained in art song and opera. She believes that variety is the spice of life!
She married her best friend, singing partner, and fellow choir director in July 2019. Shelbi and her husband, Anthony, live in Mesquite, TX and have two dogs, Zeus and Hera.
